Born in the 1960s as a reaction to consumerism and pop styles, minimalism favors simplicity. We aim for a tidy interior because it is also our philosophy of life. Refined interiors, soft colors and simple furniture are the hallmarks of this style of decoration.
Furniture
The uncluttered interior is pretty much all in sight, with little to no decorations on the furniture.
The most common materials used in furniture are concrete, glass, metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, chrome, wood, stone, and synthetic materials such as vinyl, PVC, and plastic. 'acrylic.
Floors can be concrete or wood, for example, in one color. Avoid checks and intricate patterns.
The minimalist style is characterized by sober and neutral colors as opposed to the pop style, which is characterized by bright and sharp colors. That's why there are so many whites, the favorite color of walls, ceilings and even furniture.
There are also shades of gray and beige. Black embellishments can be enhanced with small accents of bright colors, but patterns and prints should be avoided.
You can play with light and dark colors, or white and black color contrasts. You can also choose a monochromatic theme and stick to the same color palette, like grays and whites.
Lights and Objects
Natural light is very important. A simple, straight fitting blends in perfectly with this environment. You can leave the windows uncurtained, or opt for light curtains, sliding shutters, simple wooden blinds or wide slats.
When it comes to objects, I choose to keep only the essentials, such as those that have sentimental value or great utility. Green plants, carpets (discreetly) are in the spotlight. You can also choose a single object, such as a painting or a photograph, as the focal point of your decoration.
